North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms was a leader in conservative movement during his tenure in Washington. He was running for third term in 1984 when this 2 1/4-inch celluloid was made. Helms was facing a serious challenge from former Governor Jim Hunt, so Republicans pulled out the big gun with this Ronald Reagan coattail pin. Thanks in part to Reagan's help, Helms eked out a narrow victory over Hunt. Excellent.
