A rare, early Barack Obama pre-presidential campaign pin. This 2 1/4-inch celluloid is from Obama's campaign for Congress in 2000. Obama ran for the Democratic nomination for the 1st District Illinois seat and suffered a big loss to incumbent Bobby Rush. Obama got just 30% of the vote in this election -- it was the only election he ever lost. Four years later, he was elected to the US Senate. Excellent condition.
