Eugene Debs was the Socialist Party presidential candidate in every election from 1900 until 1920 -- except for 1916. That year, the party nominated the ticket of Allan Benson and George Kirkpatrick. Debs decided to run for Congress in 1916 and the party picked Benson, a newspaper editor and author from Detroit, to lead the ticket. This rare 7/8 inch celluloid from the Al Anderson collection originally was issued as a pencil clip and this one does not have the clip on back. Excellent condition.
