The Teddy Bear went out the White House door when Theodore Roosevelt left office. But Billy Possum came in. William Howard Taft was given the nickname, supposedly after he was treated to a possum and tater dinner in Atlanta (and Taft never met a dinner he didn’t like). There never was a stuffed opossum craze to match the Teddy Bear, but Billy Possum did show up on some great political pins, including this rare and colorful 7/8 inch celluloid. Whitehead and Hoag back paper, excellent. This is by far the best Billy Possum pin and a true rarity.
