No self-respecting gentleman in 1840 would be without his snuff box. If you were of the Whig Party persuasion, that snuff box would have an image of William Henry Harrison on the lid. This 3 inch snuff box made to mark Harrison’s inauguration is a great example. It pictures Harrison with his name, date of inauguration, and “President of the U.S.” Of course, he wasn’t president long – he died 30 days later, hardly enough time to use up the snuff in the box. Some surface marks, loose lid.
