William Howard Taft and James Sherman appear together on this rare and colorful 1 1/2 inch celluloid with St. Louis Button Co. back paper. That symbol in the center is a fasces, a Roman symbol of authority carried by Roman lictors (magisterial attendants). If the word looks familiar, it was the inspiration for Benito Mussolini's Fascist Party. Excellent condition.
