This 1 1/4 inch celluloid with Lopez back paper was made to support strikers at the Aluminum Ore Co. in East St. Louis in 1917. The company tried to break the strike with African-American non-union workers and the tension helped fuel the July 2, 1917, East St. Louis riots that left hundreds dead. This rare pin is a significant piece of labor and civil rights history in excellent condition.
