This 1 1/4 inch Peanut Club celluloid has a fascinating back story. It is a Republican fundraiser from Multnomah County Republican Central Committee in Oregon. They started their fundraising drive in April 1976 on the premise that they could operate on "Peanuts - Many Small Donations from Many Individuals." They had no idea a peanut farmer was going to be the Democratic nominee that year and had to abandon the campaign when Carter was the likely nominee. The curl of the button reads PD. MCRCC 519 SW PARK, PORT, OR. BOB KEYSER 4/1/76. The MCRCC stands for Multnomah County Republican Central Committee. Thanks to David Wilson for the information on this item. Excellent condition.
