A scarce 1960 John F. Kennedy coattail pin from New Jersey. This 1 1/4 inch celluloid urges voters to back JFK, Cornelius Gallagher and the entire Democratic ticket. Gallagher defeated Samuel Kanis for the 13th District congressional seat, winning a whopping 68% of the vote. Gallagher served in Congress from 1959 to 1973 and was well-known for his dispute with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. He pleaded guilty to income tax evasion and perjury charges in 1972. Great pin, great story, excellent condition.
