Yes, that’s a swastika on this rare Taft-Sherman jugate. Before the Nazis claimed the swastika, it had been used for centuries as a good luck or religious symbol by many cultures. In fact, the word “swastika” comes from a Sanskrit word. The symbol was widely used by Native Americans in the Mississippi Valley and Southwest. The story behind this pin along with its rarity make it a highly sought-after item. It’s a 1 1/2 inch celluloid with Whitehead and Hoag back paper, excellent condition.
