James Garfield remains one of the great political tragic stories in US history. Rags to riches, brilliant scholar, soldier, elected president at age 48, then assassinated less than a year later. This dramatic ferrotype is a magnificent 1880 campaign item. The ferrotype is mounted in a 1 1/4 inch brass star with brass eagle pin at top. Excellent condition.
