An iconic Horace Greeley campaign item from 1872, this brass ferrotype quill was one of Al Anderson’s favorites. It’s a 3-inch tall brass quill with Greeley pictured at center and the words “The Pen is Mightier than the Sword” embossed along the center of the quill. Greeley, of course, was editor of the New York Herald and was famous for his editorials as well as his support of all kinds of social projects. The last time we are aware that one of these was sold it went for more than $16,000. This one is a marvelous example with just a little wear at top of ferrotype. It comes from Al’s collection and is a true treasure.
