A rare and fascinating celluloid from the early 1900s. This 1 1/2 inch celluloid long has been considered inspired by Theodore Roosevelt's hosting Booker T. Washington at the White House for a dinner. In recent years, pins with this same image have been found that promoted the Bostock chimpanzee act -- apparently Bostick's chimpanzee could sit down at a table and eat just like a human. So, is it an advertising item or was it also used in the equality debate? You can make your own decision. We do know it is a very rare item. This one has some spotting, is missing pin on back, but is in better shape that the one featured in the Keynoter equality issue.
