Anderson Auction #221

Lot #1388:

Debs and Seidel Sepia Jugate

Eugene Debs and Emil Seidel are pictured on this Socialist Party campaign pin from 1912. It's a scarce 7/8-inch sepia celluloid jugate in excellent condition. Seidel became the first Socialist mayor of a major American city when he was elected in Milwaukee in 1910. Like Debs, he later became an outspoken opponent of World War I.
