John W. Davis is pictured with Sen. Augustus Owsley Stanley of Kentucky on this scarce 7/8 inch celluloid coattail. The pin is often stained, nut this one is in excellent condition with Whitehead and Hoag back paper. A historical footnote: Stanley was an avowed anti Prohibition politician. Years later his grandson, Owsley “Bear” Stanley, was a close friend of the Grateful Dead and known for brewing LSD in San Francisco. In 1924, Davis and Stanley both lost, but the pin is a winner.
