The Kellogg Brothers not only knew how to make cereal, they knew how to market it. Who was making the decisions on purchasing children’s breakfast food? Women, of course. This Votes for Women advertisement appeals directly to women by showing a group of girl protesters marching for Kellogg’s Toasted Corn Flakes, invented in 1894 in Battle Creek, Mich., by john Harvey Kellogg. It didn’t hurt that the Kellogg spouses were suffrage advocates. This 14 3/4 by 19 1/2 inch framed item has some minor surface marks and the frame shows some wear.
