William Howard Taft as president was an inspiration for fat men everywhere. This rare 1 1/4 inch celluloid is a U.S. Fat Man’s Club pin with Taft image and Lopez back paper. The Fat Man’s Club can be traced to a Vermont tavern and the club’s history claims that Taft (all 340 pounds of him) once visited the annual meeting of the club. Legend says that when Taft was picked up at the railroad station, the car he was in refused to move. True or not, it’s a great story and this is a great pin, excellent.
