The 40/8 Veterans Club was founded in 1920. This 1 1/2 inch celluloid with attached ribbon is from a 1941 meeting of the group in Phoenix, Arizona. Excellent condition. The name 40 and 8 came from the box cars that were used to transport troops in France -- they could carry 40 men or 8 horses. Members of the group included Prescott Bush and Harry Truman.
