The great blackout of Nov. 9, 1965, affected 30 million people in the Northeast and Canada, including New York City. Pinmaker Manny Ress made this 2 1/2 inch celluloid to commemorate New York’s “darkest hour.” By the way, the 13-hour blackout included one of the lowest crime rates in New York history, but there is no evidence that proves the rumors about a spike in births nine months later took place. A scarce Ress special pin, excellent condition.
