Lyndon Johnson for United States Senator

LBJ campaign card from 1948 when he defeated former Texas Gov. Coke Stevenson for a US Senate seat. LBJ won by the narrowest of margins and there were charges the election was rigged. (late votes from Jim Wells County were submitted in alphabetical order, and they all were for LBJ). This was election that earned LBJ the nickname "Landslide Lyndon." The 3 1/4 by 4 1/4 inch card pictures Lady Bird and the girls on the back. Excellent condition.
