We naturally thought this was a Carter item, but according to David Wilson, it is not. Here is the story: The Peanut Club button was issued by the Multnomah County Republican Central Committee as part of a fund raising effort by the county party. If you look at the curl, you will see Pd. MCRCC, 519 SW Park, Port., OR. Bob Keyser 4/1/76. They were raising money to feed the elephant (as in the Republican Party). Little did they know that Carter (and his peanut theme) would be the force later in 1976. Excellent condition.
