Theodore Roosevelt was famous for using “square deal” to describe his programs, but other Republican candidates liked it so much they decided to use it, too. One notable example is Calvin Coolidge, who said, “We demand that big business give the people a square deal; in return, we must insist that when anyone engaged in big business honestly endeavors to do right he shall himself be given a square deal.” As you can see by this scarce campaign pin, the square deal became a big part of Coolidge’s 1924 campaign. This 7/8 inch celluloid is in excellent condition.
