Joe Louis for Willkie

Heavyweight champ Joe Louis could throw a good punch in the boxing ring and it turns out he threw a pretty good punch in the ring of politics, as well. Louis is shown on this 1940 celluloid endorsing Wendell Willkie for president. An important historical item not only because it shows a sports hero but even more so because it’s a popular African-American figure speaking out on politics. It’s a 1 1/2 inch celluloid in excellent condition.
