John Clayton of Delaware took it upon himself to defend Gen. Zachary Taylor in a July 5, 1848, speech before the U.S. Senate. This 16-page pamphlet is an intriguing look back on the politics of 170 years ago. It is 5 3/4 by 8 1/2 inches, shows some wear but still in very good shape for such an old paper item.
