A scarce piece of Chicago history. Mayor Anton Cermak was with President-Elect Franklin Roosevelt in Florida on March 6, 1933, when an assassin missed FDR and hit Cermak, who died soon after. He reportedly said to FDR, “I’m glad it was me, not you.” This ribbon is from a memorial held just a few days laster in Chicago. It’s a 5 1/4 inch item made by the Geraghty Mfg. Co. of Chicago, excellent condition.
