John W. Davis needed some luck in 1924. A darkhorse candidate nominated after 103 ballots, running against a popular president in a time of prosperity and a popular third party candidate, Davis had his work cut out for him. This scarce 7/8 inch celluloid with Whitehead and Hoag back paper pictures him with a lucky horseshoe. It wasn’t enough, but it made for a great campaign pin. Anderson collection, excellent.
