This rare 1 inch celluloid has one of the most fascinating back stories in the hobby. It was long considered to refer to Eddie Jacobson, Truman’s Jewish partner in his Kansas City clothing store. However, a few years back researchers at the Truman Library uncovered a letter in the museum’s archives showing that someone named Eddie Phippen, a job seeker who claimed to be a friend of Truman’s, had the buttons made. According to the letter, the Secret Service confiscated most of the pins – but not all of them. So the story is a little different but this is still a rare Truman item with a fascinating history. It is in excellent condition.
