A classic anti-slavery item made for use in the 1838 election. This 1 1/8 inch copper token was issued by the American Anti-Slavery Society and struck by Gibbs Gardener and Co. of Belleville, N.J. The token pictures a kneeling woman on the front with the words, “Am I Not A Woman & A Sister?” Listed in Sullivan as CE 1838-19, this dramatic piece is in excellent condition.
