Democrats nominated John W. Davis for president at their convention in New York in 1924, but it wasn’t easy. The convention was deadlocked for weeks between supporters of William Gibbs McAdoo and Al Smith before finally nominating Davis on the 103rd ballot. This pin is a special item made for guests of the Newspaper Club at the convention. It’s a 1 1/4 inch celluloid and it’s the first time we recall offering it in our auction. Excellent condition.
