James Garfield was a true rags to riches story with a tragic ending. Born in poverty, he rose to become president before being assassinated in a Washington, D.C. train station. This 1 1/4 inch ferrotype is a magnificent item from the 1880 election. Super image of Garfield and still in excellent condition with brass eagle pin at top and brass frame.
