Until Watergate, the Teapot Dome scandal of the 1920s was probably the most famous of all U.S. government scandals. Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall was caught leasing Navy oil reserves at the Teapot Dome in Wyoming to Henry Sinclair. An ensuing investigation by Sen. Thomas Walsh led to Fall’s conviction for accepting bribes. He became the first member of a presidential Cabinet to go to prison. The scandal forever tarnished the Harding administration’s image. This rare 3/4 inch celluloid with Whitehead and Hoag back paper pictures a teapot behind another dome – the U.S. Capitol. Excellent condition. We have not had this pin before.
