U.S. Grant and Schuyler Colfax are pictured together on this rare 1 1/8 inch ferrotype from 1868. Grant is pictured in his military uniform; Colfax, Speaker of the House from Indiana, was an anti-slavery campaigner who spent just one term as vice president after being implicated in the Credit Mobilier scandal and maneuvering to be nominated for president himself. An exceptionally hard to find, few very minor surface marks. Uniface Grant - Colfax are very tough. Minimum bid lowered.
