A very unusual paper cover from the Civil War era. This is a 5 1/2 inch Stephen Douglas paper cover with a few pinholes. The back is what makes it really different; someone in the distant past attached a John Brown cover to the back of this Douglas cover, making it a two-sided item. Brown side includes Brown's last words.
