In September of 1908, President William Howard Taft traveled to Montrose, Colorado, for the opening of the Gunnison Tunnel, considered one of the engineering wonders of its age. This lot consists of a rare, colorful celluloid picturing Taft and the tunnel along with a train schedule for Taft’s trip, which started in Denver and ended in Salt Lake City. The colorful 1 1/2 inch tall celluloid pin is attached to the 4 3/4 by 7 1/2 inch program. Excellent condition.
