Before he ran for president, before he was a U.S. senator, Strom Thurmond was the governor of South Carolina. This is a very rare Thurmond for governor campaign poster. Thurmond was governor of South Carolina from 1947-1951. He ran for president on the States Rights Party ticket in 1948 and in 1956 started his record-setting career in the Senate. This 13 by 16 inch framed poster pictures a youthful Thurmond. The squiggly lines you see in the photo are small holes in the poster. This is a really rare Thurmond item.
