Horatio Seymour and Francis Blair are pictured on this rare 5/8 inch ferrotype from 1868 in excellent condition. It has a loop back and metal back and frame. Seymour was a leader of New York’s conservative “Hunker” faction of the Democratic Party that sympathized with slavery and worked against the “Barnburner,” or more radical faction of the party. He was a reluctant candidate in 1868 but eventually agreed to run, which thankfully resulted in this great item.
