A very rare Illinois item from the Bob Rouse collection. Adam Ortseifen was a Democratic hopeful candidate for governor in 1900. Backed by the Chicago machine, Ortseifen lost the nomination to Samuel Alschuler after a revolt from Egypt (a term describing down-state Illinois) against the Chicago faction. Ortseifen served as Chicago treasurer and went on to a successful career operating breweries in Chicago. This is the first time we’ve ever offered this 1 1/4 inch celluloid with Geraghty back paper. Excellent condition.
