Visitors to the 1968 Democratic National Convention got more than they bargained for. Yes, some of them received this plastic and paper badge from Mayor Daley welcoming them to town. But they also got the biggest riots ever to accompany a political convention. These yellow plastic tags were clipped to the telephones in each delegate’s hotel room in Chicago for the convention. There is a close up photo of a phone with this tag depicted in David Douglas Duncan’s “Self Portrait USA” picture book on the ’68 conventions. This scarce 2 inch item is excellent.
