Boxing legend Joe Louis endorsed Wendell Willkie in the 1940 election. This 1 1/4 inch celluloid with St. Louis Button Co. back paper picturing Louis signaled the beginning of African-American athletes speaking out and offering endorsements in politics. Excellent condition.
