“Throwing your hat in the ring” was an old boxing term that came from challengers throwing their hats into the boxing ring to show they wanted to fight. Theodore Roosevelt was ready for another kind of fight in 1912 when he threw his hat into the presidential ring. This 2 inch, embossed metal pin helped mark the occasion. Excellent condition. Consignor adjusted minimum bid.
