Religion was a big issue in the 1928 election. Al Smith was the first Roman Catholic to run for president, and he was anti-Prohibition to boot, so a lot of people ended up voting as much against him as they did for Herbert Hoover. This 7/8 inch celluloid is an example of the reaction to Smith’s candidacy: “Principle Above Party.” It has a Whitehead and Hoag back paper and is in excellent condition.
