When President William Howard Taft visited Los Angeles on Oct. 11, 1909, this scarce pin was waiting to welcome him. It’s a 1 1/4 inch celluloid with a W.H. Hoegee of Los Angeles back paper in excellent condition. Taft was greeted with a parade and impressed the Los Angeles Times, which said: “Mr. Taft had a bully time in Los Angeles. He seemed to be the only one who wasn’t much impressed with the solemnity of the occasion. he didn’t have the air that some celebrities contrive to give of a ruler visiting his subjects.” Only had this once before, Auction #180 and it sold for $472,
