James Curley was mayor of Boston on July 4, 1932, when this Victory Parade celluloid picturing him with FDR was made. This rare 2 3/4 inch celluloid has a Lopez Badge back paper. Curley was one of the true characters in Massachusetts political history, and that’s saying something. Later in 1932 when the governor kept him from being a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, Curley went anyway as Puerto Rican delegate Alcalde Jaime Curleo and backed FDR for the nomination. Faint mark on paper below celluloid bottom center. A choice item from Robert Maguire collection.
