Franklin Roosevelt was assistant secretary of the Navy in 1914 when he decided to run for the U.S. Senate in New York. It was a bit too much too soon for FDR; he finished third in the Democratic primary. It was only a small setback – as well all know, he went on to much bigger things. This rare 7/8 inch celluloid is a special FDR pre-presidential item. It has a Whitehead and Hoag back paper, excellent condition. We have had this pin five times in eleven years . The lowest was around $380 ten years ago since then it has frequently sold for over $500 and once brought over $800. A great FDR item.
