Roscoe Conkling was a strong supporter of U.S. Grant and his New York followers took on the name “Unconditionals,” inspired by Grant’s demand for unconditional surrender at Fort Donaldson during the Civil War. The Unconditionals were still active in 1908 as this rare 1 1/4 inch celluloid shows. It pictures the group’s founder Conkling along with William Howard Taft and James Sherman. Pin has a Whitehead and Hoag back paper and is in excellent condition.
