Jeannette Rankin for Congress

A great little Montana political button with a wonderful back story. Jeannette Rankin was the first woman elected to Congress. She was elected in Montana in 1916. As an avowed pacifist, she voted against entering World War I. She lost her seat in Congress, then ran again in 1940, once again being elected. She was the only member of Congress to vote against entering World War II. She later also protested against the Vietnam War. This 1 inch celluloid is from her 1940 campaign. Excellent condition.
