This rare Herbert Hoover-Charles Curtis Jugate has some intriguing implications. It’s a 1 1/4 inch celluloid with a few faint edge spots. The impressive design starts with a patriotic “My Country Tis of Thee” message at top. The messages at the bottom are a little more shadowy. The “100%” refers to 100% American and often was used by groups such as the KKK who opposed minorities. “The crisis” has similar connotations. Since Hoover’s opponent was Al Smith, the first Roman Catholic major presidential candidate, it’s a good bet those slogans were aimed at him. A fascinating and rare item.
