An amazing lot featuring a ribbon and three tickets to a planned reception for President Warren G. Harding on Aug. 2, 1923. If that date sounds familiar, it’s because it was the day Harding died. The event was planned for Los Angeles, but had to be canceled when Harding fell ill and died in San Francisco. The 6 1/2 inch ribbon and attached celluloid shell was made to be used by a special guest at the reception. The tickets are 3 3/4 inch cardboard items: two for the peristyle section and one for the platform on the floor of stadium. Everything is in excellent condition.
