This Eugene Debs item is a fascinating bit of California history. The Socialist Party envelope pictures Debs with running mate Emil Seidel. Inside are two letters: a handwritten letter from San Mateo County Socialist Party Secretary George Ball asking local Republican Henry Brown for a debate; a typed letter from Brown saying, basically, thanks but no thanks. The envelope is 3 1/2 by 6 inches, ripped at end, great photos, letters in excellent shape.
