Charles Evans Hughes was governor of New York, US secretary of state, Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court -- and almost president. This 1 3/4 inch celluloid is from 1916, when Hughes came within a whisker (and he had some good ones) of becoming president. JA Joel back paper, excellent condition.
